Scientists Say Green Election Won’t Stop Stem Cell Work

Gov. Jim Doyle has made stem cell research a cornerstone of his re-election campaign. He purposely only mentions “stem cell research” instead of differentiating between the different kinds of stem cells. At least Michael J. Fox got that part right. What Fox is wrong about is when he says Rep. Mark Green winning “will set [...]

Kerry’s Troop Insult Tempers Democrats’ Momentum

Sen. John Kerry insulted troops by saying, “[I]f you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” Only stupid people are fighting in Iraq. That’s amazing since the U.S. has the most technologically advanced [...]

Strategic Vision Poll Puts Green in Striking Distance

Strategic Vision’s latest poll gives Gov. Doyle a 47%-45% advantage over Rep. Mark Green. According to Fred D of RealDebateWisconsin more Democrats than Republicans proportionally were surveyed. The poll maybe underreporting Green’s support. Most noticable is Doyle doesn’t cross the 50% mark, 52% disapprove of Doyle’s job performance–they don’t like the GOP-controlled state legislature either, [...]

Charlie’s Show Prep #191

Two items of note on campaign spending in the governor’s race: 1.) Doyle and independent groups backing him have spent 30% more than Green and his supporters; 2.) Doyle’s support in SE Wisconsin is “soft for a Democrat.” Can the governor win without racking up massive totals in Milwaukee?
In the latest death by a thousand [...]

Evil “Sock”-o Threatens Radio Host

Radio host Stephanie Miller received a threatening letter from someone after watching her on a recent Hannity & Colmes.

In the money race Gov. Doyle and Rep. Green are pretty close. Doyle [PDF] raised a little more than $2 million, while Green [PDF] raked in $1.85 million. Doyle Leads in Latest Polls

Rasmussen gives Gov. Doyle a 48% to 44% advantage over Rep. Mark Green. The UW Badger Poll [PDF] goes goofy and gives Doyle a 12% lead. Like the St. Norber’s poll I’m sure neither campaign is buying that.

Newspaper Circulation Down

Newspaper circulation went down again. All except for the NY Post. I don’t know what made them special. Yes, they’re more conservative, but I don’t find I read it much at all. For one thing, their website is ugly.
The Audit Bureau of Circulations FAS-FAX report for the six-month period ending September 2006 released this [...]

Max Boot on Individualism in Innovation

Max Boot is guest-weblogging at The Volokh Conspiracy. His new book is War Made New: Technology, Warfare, and the Course of History, 1500 to Today. His first post discusses technological innovation and how individuals “operating more or less on their own” have driven that innovation:

Gay Marriage Ban Commerical

I don’t know what to think about this ad for the gay marriage ban:

Part of it is kids in ads don’t persuade me. Another part is I’m still undecided. My libertarian streak tells me to get the state out of the whole marriage business and enforce civil union contracts. My Burkean conservative side understands that [...]
