Arianna Already Getting Orwellian
Can we start calling Arianna Huffington a shill for the Democrats? Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had her first big political challenge and lost. Yet Arianna writes that it was “[a] victory for taking a stand — and for her leadership. Because that’s what real leaders do, they take stands.” Leadership is about accomplishing things. What Pelosi wanted to accomplish was making Rep. John Murtha her Majority Leader. Rep. Steny Hoyer won, therefore she failed. Arianna can spin it all she wants, but I’m sure there are plenty of Democrats wondering, “She stumbled already? We’re not even officially the majority yet.”
Dan Riehl writes,
Arianna’s twilight zone starts and ends with her confusing peace with victory as the ultimate goal of military confrontation. I believe her reasoning actually betrays a great deal about the way many on the Left think, while also explaining her view on the Hoyer versus Murtha debacle. Winning and losing are irrelevant, so long as things are quiet and people give the appearance of being on the same team. And that’s supposed to represent the view of the world for the reality based community?
Poor Arianna, already she’s doing the “black is white,” “up is down” thing for her side. For her own sanity I hope Arianna is praying Pelosi gets some better political judgement.
“Murtha Loses… But It’s Still a Victory for Pelosi“

It’s the way all the Pelosi LibDems are playing it, including our own David Obey.
Prediction: It won’t be the last battle she’ll lose.
Prediction II: She won’t be speaker very long.
i.e., “[a] victory for taking a stand…” for caught-on-tape felonious corruption.
