Live from Blog-a-palooza!

Alterra is kickin’, but they need more chairs. One coffee is down my gullet, and I’m almost ready for another. Nick, Phel, Casper, Triticale, and Aaron are here. One new local weblogger I’ve met is Phil Gerbyshak who’s ahead of a long-time weblogger like me by getting published in a book.

Socialism No Answer for Midwest Airlines

Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway has a solution to keeping Midwest Airlines independent: socialism. He wants state, county, and city pension boards to buy a few million shares of the airline’s stock. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker disagrees. The role of the pension boards is to invest in a manner most conducive to pensioners. [...]

Castro Walks, Drinks, Listens to Stooge Chavez

Fidel Castro is walking around while freedom-loving Cubans weep:
Fidel Castro appeared today on Cuban state television for the first time in three months, walking and chatting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. His appearance came amid speculation that he was ill and near death.
“As I said before, this is far from being a lost battle,” the [...]

The Existential Sep. 11.

Professor David Bell tries in vain to tone down the importance of the Sep. 11 attacks on America’s history and policy. He plays a numbers game where the 3000 dead from New York and Washington, D.C. are merely drops in the bucket to the 20 million Soviets killed in World War II. Yes, the Nazis [...]

Reformatting: Taking Drastic Measures

Reformatting my notebook’s hard drive and reinstalling Windows XP is not my idea of an adventure. But it’s one I’ve set upon. Some nasty spyware got on it and the repertoire of software tools has failed to kill it. I want my mobile weblogging machine all nice a pretty for Blog-a-palooza Wednesday. Drastic measure are [...]

President Bush Get’s Caught Forgetting Two Letters

I’m glad someone called President Bush on mentioning the “Democrat majority:”
President Bush said Monday he wasn’t trying to disparage the party now running Congress by referring to it as the “Democrat majority” — as opposed to the “Democratic majority” — in his State of the Union speech.
“That was an oversight,” Bush said in an interview [...]

Jack Bauer Banned in Venezuela

Jack Bauer and 24 are being banned in Venezuela. If that wasn’t bad enough Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez won’t renew the license of opposition broadcaster RCTV.
Next season, Jack should make a special trip to Caracas.

How’s the New Look?

Due to some readers telling me TAM looked pretty horrible on their browsers I’ve moved to another WordPress theme. From the little cross-browser testing I’ve done it looks to work on Internet Explorer and Firefox. Let me know if something doesn’t look right. A screenshot would be the most helpful. If you hate the design [...]

Hillary Wants Troops Out of Iraq by ‘09

Sen. Hillary Clinton wants U.S. troops out of Iraq by the time President Bush leaves office. She told Iowans, “”I am going to level with you, the president has said this is going to be left to his successor. I think it is the height of irresponsibility and I really resent it.”
What she really [...]

Google Bomb, R.I.P.

Google killed the Google Bomb. Pranksters will have to find other ways to term President Bush, Jimmy Carter, and whoever else as “miserable failures.”

Fixing Google Image Search

In the past few days Google “improved” their image search by making details of the image only seen if you rolled your mouse over it. Old school Google didn’t use JavaScript wizardry to make their web pages act more like a desktop program. One of Google’s smart people, Ionut Alex. Chitu, heard our cries (amazing [...]

Ten Years Ago: Packers’ Last Super Bowl Victory

Ten years ago today in New Orleans, years before she was a storm-ravaged wasteland, the Green Bay Packers stepped onto the Superdome and made history. Their 35-21 win over the New England Patriots capped the team’s long journey back to NFL greatness. Packers fans still remember Brett Favre’s 54-yard pass to Andre Rison, Desmond Howard’s [...]
