Obama Announces Presidential Exploratory Committee

by Sean Hackbarth

Illinois Senator Barack Obama threw his hat into the 2008 Presidential race by announcing the creation of his Presidential exploratory committee. In a statement Obama said,

For the next several weeks, I am going to talk with people from around the country, listening and learning more about the challenges we face as a nation, the opportunities that lie before us, and the role that a presidential campaign might play in bringing our country together. And on February 10th, at the end of these decisions and in my home state of Illinois, I’ll share my plans with my friends, neighbors and fellow Americans.

The bombshell will be if he decides not to run for President.

If Obama gets the nomination he gives the Democrats a “perfect shield.” A liberal media will drool deeply desiring a Black to become President and a Democrat on top of it. Stories will be slanted Obama’s way while reading between the lines of editorials you’ll learn, “If you criticize Obama you’re a racist.”

The pressure’s on Sen. Hillary Clinton. She seems like the likely nominee, but she lacks the rock star aura Obama and her husband have. What she does have are plenty of conniving, political minds willing to do anything to win the nomination. Obama will have to endure some shots to the teeth if he wants to win.

And to think Obama has Alan Keyes to thank for his sharp rise to political stardom.

ARGH.

1) Hillary is NOT the likely nominee! I don’t know a single liberal who likes her, much less wants to vote for her! The Hillary candidacy is pure media creation. Conservatives hate her because she’s a Clinton, and liberals hate her because she’s a carpetbagging faux-centrist whose political positions change whenever it will benefit her career. She’s completely transparent. No one likes her. Stop perpetuating this media myth that Hillary is a popular candidate.

As far as the “If you criticize Obama you’re a racist” meme, please. If anything, i hear just as much “what has he done?” criticism on the left as i do on the right; maybe more.

In any case, i think the “what has he done?” thing is a non-issue. It sure didn’t stop a certain Texas Governor (Texas being a state where the Lt. Governor does the most work, practically making the Governorship a figurehead position) from being elected President…or from getting close enough that fraud could get him the rest of the way, whatever.

The polls I’ve seen has Hillary as the leader. Also I’ve been mentally preparing myself for a Mrs. Clinton Presidency so I won’t endure any shock. That may play into my biases.

I’ll be shocked if race-baiters like Eugene Kane don’t claim Obama critics are racists. Now that will be news.

Why is Hillary running and not Bill? Seriously would anyone be making a fuss over Sen. Hillary Rodham’s presidential candidacy? The only thing I see propping Hillary up is her marriage to Bill…

Well, would have Hillary won a Senate seat in New York had she not been the former first lady? Sure, she was a pretty politically active First Lady, but still, without that her credentials would have been pretty thin, i agree (especially since she carpetbagged her way into New York in the first place).

Sean, i’d be curious to see those polls. I wouldn’t doubt that she’s got some support in the Northeast, but the rest of the country? I can’t believe it.

Bill Clinton cannot run. He is term-limited out.

The Democratic ticket in 08 most likely will be The Hildabeast and Obama. Virtually unstoppable. Will win a Reaganesque landslide with all the favorable media tailwind.

A side note on the presidential term limits. It would be interesting from a constitutional perspective to see a two-term president young enough to serve sit out four years and try to run again.

For all of you interested in the Constitution: does that 22nd Amendment prohibit someone from serving more than two consecutive terms or more than two terms in a lifetime?

The wording literally says: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice …”
