Fox News Fails on Obama Madrassa Story
Fox News got caught pushing a smear of Sen. Barack Obama that began with an annonymous-sourced story in Insight magazine, put out by The Washington Times. The magazine claims Obama went to a Muslim madrassa as a child. Maybe, maybe not. The point is Fox News ran with a thinly-sourced story and not only spread a possible lie about Obama, but claimed Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign was behind it.
Hardly anyone has heard of Insight magazine and for good reason. It’s not very good. In December 2005 Insight reported there were strained relations between President Bush and Vice President Cheney over the Iraq War. A Scooter Libby trial was sure to unleash the venom. Well, a judge is trying to put together a jury for Libby and Bush and Cheney still stand side-by-side.

I caught a clip of those schmucks on Faux News trashing Obama and it made me fairly ill. They were positively shrieking, “This is HUGE! This is HUGE!” Not to mention that the commentators kept slipping in little digs, like “Obama is a member of such-and-such Christian church in Chicago, although he’s not seen regularly attending services…”
I’d laugh it off as absurd, if it weren’t so breathtakingly irresponsible. “Fair and Balanced.” Uh huh.
