Mary Katharine Ham noticed the Associated Press found a new synonym for the Pentagon:

Shivering in the shadow of the Pentagon “Death Star,” chilly protestersraged against the Iraq war Saturday near the symbol of U.S. militarypower – 40 years after activists stormed the building trying to stopanother war.

While not usually a fan of anti-heroes if I were Defense Secretary Gates I’d take this moniker with a badge of honor and run with it. What the world needs now is a superweapon aimed squarely at the Islamist threat. I want our enemies to shake with fear knowing the Death Star will strike against the forces of oppression and evil.

I also want lots of X-Wings and Tie-Fighters and AT-ATs and lightsabers and …

Watch what you ask for…the Rebels were an insurgency with a hokey ancient religion on their side too.

Except their ancient religion didn’t ask Women to wear a veil over the face, or to ask men to blow themselves up, or to ask children to commit acts of terror.

Hey man, all ancient religions are hokey; i’m not playing favorites.

Besides, the prequels only go back 39 years or so from A New Hope. We don’t how far the Jedi progressed over the centuries. ;)
