Campaign Finance Deadline Looms

Tonight is the last chance for 2008 Presidential candidates to get contributions in for their first financial reports. We’ll soon see how how well the money machines of Rudy Giuliani, Sen. John McCain, and Mitt Romney are doing. We’ll also see if there are any surprises from second-tier candidates like Sen. Sam Brownback. We know Rep. Tom Tancredo’s raked in over $1 million, but I’m curious about Tommy Thompson’s and Rep. Ron Paul’s numbers. What we won’t see with the release of the numbers is Fred Thompson’s financial support. He’s still thinking about running. Everyday he’s thinking he’s falling behind the leaders in the money primary.
