Raping Condi Rice Joked on Opie and Anthony Show

by Sean Hackbarth

Opie and Anthony deserve to be trapped on satellite radio far from the ears of the rest of us decent human beings. Their spew makes their sex in church stunt a few years back look classy.

Roger Simon put it succinctly:

These guys shouldn’t be kicked off the air for being vulgar. They should be kicked off the air for being absolute no talents! (They are also a form of pollution, burning up needed energy resources while adding to the already high noise levels destroying the peace and quiet of our neighborhoods.)

Weasel Zipper asks, “Will the media go nuts about this one? Will CBS fire these two as they did Don Imus?”

No and no. First, Opie and Anthony are on satellite radio where the rules are looser and listeners have to subscribe to hear them. Second, targeting Condi Rice is ok because she’s a black Republican. To the Left she’s a traitor to her race.

UPDATE: Jim Treacher left a comment and posted at The Daily Gut that Breitbart took the clip out of context. Opie and Anthony ended up making fun of the bum who wanted to rape Condi. I’d like the hear more to make my up my own mind. I’ve changed the post title to better describe the incident.

Let me be clear I’m not calling for O&A’s heads. They’re on satellite radio where listeners have to 1) subscribe; then 2) tune into O&A. Those are two concerted actions needed by the listener. It’s not like this “humor” was released over regular airwaves to be picked up by anyone who was turning the dial. Satellite radio is best treated like pay cable channels. A network like HBO runs very adult dramas like The Sopranos, comedy, and documentaries. If people don’t want to watch it it’s easy to avoid. I’m simply outraged at the content itself. The clip I heard wasn’t funny and is demeaning to Rice.

Also, it was a crazy hobo saying it and them mocking how awful he was. (Sorry to throw facts into the equation.)

2

The clip I linked to didn’t have the mocking. Since Opie and Anthony have an awful track record it wasn’t unreasonable to jump to that conclusion.

3

The clip I linked to didn’t have the mocking.

Yes it did. “I can just imagine the look on her face” is pointing out what a mess this homeless guy was, not saying anything about Condi.

4

I’ll listen to the clip again tonight, but more of the segment wouldn’t hurt.

Apparently you weren’t aware that hatred and debasement of women is the rule, racism is not. But seeing as republicans believe women should be locked in the home for breeding purposes, what is your point? According to your ilk, women can’t make decisions over their own bodies.

6

To the Left she’s a traitor to her race.

I call bullshit. You’ll have to link to where someone prominent on the Left called Condi a “race traitor.” That’s how conservatives talk about race, not liberals.

7

I would agree that sponsors and network management should withdraw support from this show because they do not wish to support violent, racist, and misogynist speech. Support for such speech is not a legal issue. It is a commercial and societal issue. It is appropriate that individuals and non-governmental institutions on both sides of the political spectrum condemn such vulgarities. It’s Not OK If You Are A Liberal or a Republican. But if Imus, Opie and Anthony find a free speach home on satillite radio so-be-it.
Accusation of hypocracy not accepted.

Waitaminnit, you claim “outrage” at the content of the Opie and Anthony bit, calling it “demeaning”, but feel perfectly comfortable writing this:

“targeting Condi Rice is ok because she’s a black Republican. To the Left she’s a traitor to her race.”

Without some substantive evidence of such a scurrilous claim, your content in this post is just as shameful (if not more so) than any of the crap that O&A regularly spew out.

I especially like your response to a commenter who corrected your characterization of the O&A bit:

“The clip I linked to didn’t have the mocking. Since Opie and Anthony have an awful track record it wasn’t unreasonable to jump to that conclusion.”

You know, before applying sweeping accusations of endemic racism to the entire (undefined) “Left” because of the stupid antics of a couple of radio hosts, maybe you want to go with a little more than “hey, these guys are jerks, so the Left is racist!”

This might be the worst example of ideologically prejudiced analysis I’ve ever read. Godawful.

your knee jerk “blame the liberal media” response is both to be expected and wildly off the mark.

imus was canned not because the “media” went nuts out of the blue. many people were outraged by his remarks, and protested, and then the media went nuts because of the outrage expressed by people. in this case, you are free to spearhead a movement to get them kicked off the air, and if enough people are with you, then the media will probably pick up on this, and then perhaps go nuts. however, you say you don’t want to do this. presumably other people don’t want to either, and, therefore, this will probably not catch on with the media. it is not because of, as you seem to imply, a conspiracy of the liberal media.

you also seem to be saying that because satellite is a subscriber based service, the media shouldn’t go nuts. so what’s the problem?

and all this is without even commenting on the fact that you made this post without even listening to the whole clip!

some advice: first, use brain and investigate facts, and then write. doing it the other way around makes you look stupid.

“Apparently you weren’t aware that hatred and debasement of women is the rule, racism is not. But seeing as republicans believe women should be locked in the home for breeding purposes, what is your point? According to your ilk, women can’t make decisions over their own bodies. ”

WTH? how does abortion have anything to do with this conversation?

The use of rape for humor purposes I find sick. I don’t care if its about Condi or Hillary. Somethings transend political parties.

And for the record Republicans do not think of women as breeding machines. If you don’t want to have a baby don’t have sex. Commiting murder to avoid the responsibility after the fact is wrong. You made your decision when you consented to the act. (rape and incest can be handled through adoption)

If we use your logic then men should be able to not pay child support since it’s their choice on how they use their bodies.

11

You made your decision when you consented to the act.

Consenting to sex isn’t consenting to pregnancy - and adoption isn’t a solution to pregnancies through rape. Abortion terminates pregnancies; adoption does not. They’re different solutions for two different problems.

It’s an outrage to expect a woman to gestate another person against her will. A fetus may have the rights of a person, but no person has the right to occupy another human being’s body against their will. That’s just not a right people have.

If we use your logic then men should be able to not pay child support since it’s their choice on how they use their bodies.

You’re a moonbat. That’s a wildly fallacious argument - paying child support isn’t “choosing how to use your body.” Pregnancy is. For instance, paying child support isn’t the leading cause of death for men aged 14-20 worldwide, while pregnancy is the leading cause of death for women aged 14-20, worldwide.

There’s really no comparison to be made.

First, Imus was fired because advertisers started boycotting his show. The advertisers responded to pressure from customers; not to pressure from the media.
Second, context is important. Imus’s target was a group of powerless college kids. The rules are different when you lampoon someone in power. For example, soon after Imus got canned, Rush did a parody song called “Barack the Magic Negro.” I heard it and I consider it every bit as racist as Imus’s remarks, but because the target is a powerful U.S. Senator, I have no problem allowing it on the public airwaves. Now I haven’t heard the Condi Rice rape joke, so I don’t know if its offensiveness is comparable to “Barack the Magic Negro,” but my point is that you have to consider the target.
Here’s another example. Over the decades, lots of ugly things have been said about Hillary Clinton; no one raised any fuss. But when John McCain made a nasty joke about Chelsea Clinton (google for mccain chelsea joke) McCain ended up apologizing.

Let me put it this way: when you enter the public sphere and rise to power, whether you are Hillary or Condi or Barack, you are allowing a certain level of nastyness and you can expect a certain level unfair attacks. If you are a private citizen, such as high schooler Chelsea or the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team, you should be able to expect more protection.

“Consenting to sex isn’t consenting to pregnancy…”

This has got to be the DUMBEST statement I’ve ever read.

Having sex carries risks…pregnancy, std’s like aids. You know the risks. Accept the responsibility.

I can’t believe the depths of idiotic “logic” some will stoop to to defend abortion…
