Heavy Weapons Teams Sent to U.S. Airports

Because of the U.K. terrorist attacks security is being boosted in the U.S. (emphasis mine):
U.S. airport authorities and Department of Homeland Security officials told ABC News that heavy weapons teams, parking restrictions, increased vehicle checkpoints and other measures to step up security were being put into place at large- and medium-sized U.S. commercial airports.
Officials cautioned […]

Attacks Possible Rushdie Reaction

A theory floating around is the U.K. terrorist attacks stem from Salman Rushdie’s knighting:
The message, posted under the name Abu Osama al-Hazeen, gave the invasion of Iraq and the recent knighthood for Salman Rushdie as justification for a fresh terrorist attack on Britain.
Al-Hazeen wrote: “Is Britain longing for Al Qaeda’s bombings? We, and the whole […]

Wild at Wrigley

Go turn on Fox and catch the Cubs-Brewers game. Milwaukee put up four in the first inning. The Cubs came back with two of their own. So the Brewers put up three in the second inning. Expect more wild wackiness at Wrigley.

Two London Car Bombs Found

If you’re living in a cardboard box or you’re waiting to snag an iPhone and your cell phone batteries died (you’ll really hate the iPhone’s power sucking) you might not know that U.K. authorities stumbled upon a car bomb. It’s now multiplied to two car bombs:
As authorities were investigating an explosives-packed car discovered outside a […]

PETA President: Romney Missing a Neuron

For strapping his dog onto the roof of his car 24 years ago PETA’s president dipped into some lame pop psychology:
“If you wouldn’t strap your child to the roof of your car, you have no business doing that to the family dog! I don’t know who would find that acceptable,” she said, adding that the […]

Coulter Helps Edwards Rake in Cash

Picking a fight with Ann Coulter–with the help of Chris Matthews and MSNBC–helped the John Edwards campaign raise “$450,000 from 2,300 donors within 24 hours.”
Congrats, Ann. You’ve let that empty suit survive that much longer.

Our Symbiotic Media World

Fred Dooley is the highlight of a Racine Journal Times story on citizen media:
You won’t find Fred Dooley, a Racinian whose views tug to the right, standing under the media banner with his Real Debate Wisconsin blog.
“The only reason I say no is because I don’t get paid for it,” said Dooley, who’ll stick with […]

A Tired President

Robert Bluey’s post on President Bush accepting defeat on the immigration bill links to a Washington Post article more broadly examining the floundering domestic agenda. I left a comment that long enough to be a post of its own. So I posted it here:
President Bush is tired. Events and mismanagement have weighed him down. He’s […]

McGee/Jackson Gets Bail Money, Still in Jail

The Rev. George King signed a check for $50,000 to bail Michael McGee/Jackson out of state custody. The thug alderman accused of bribery and attempted battery will be promptly placed in federal custody. His first hearing on federal charges takes place today. Bail might be argued then.

Allahpundit Confused about WSJ

The immigration bill died, so it’s time to get the last few shots in at one another. Allahpundit launched one at a Wall Street Journal reporter for failing to do any reporting about Hot Air (it was later corrected). His mistake was lumping the reporter with the WSJ editorial page that wanted a comprehensive immigration […]

Immigration Debate Rooted in Fairness

The defeat of the immigration bill comes not from a debate over abstract notions of “open borders” or globalization. Most of the strong opposition to the immigration bill lay with the feeling illegal immigrants were getting away with breaking the law. It comes down to fairness. There’s a feeling that there’s one set of rules […]
