Saturday Presidential Thoughts

by Sean Hackbarth

The hoopla over Rep. Ron Paul having more cash on hand than Sen. John McCain only means one guy is actually spending money (”actually running a campaign” in James Joyner’s words).

Fred Thompson

As for Fred Thompson lobbying for a pro-abortion group I need to see more evidence of what he actually did. If he did lobby he’s already lied to the public even before he’s officially announced. Such an act would certainly collapse the brand of being a different sort of politician he’s been crafting since spring. Thompson has been very smart so far so I can’t imagine he’d be that dumb. If he did the lobbying he should come right out and say it. John Hinderaker defends the practice. Thompson could too. If this is part of a re-thinking of his views on abortion he should talk about that. Let’s see how well he communicates during his first campaign crisis. We will learn some important things about man.

Before you pass judgement, I would offer up Captain Ed’s post on the matter from this morning…..

That’s why I’m waiting for more information. One thing is Thompson can’t ignore this and hope it goes away.

There is always Nixon calling Thompson “dumb as hell.” Will that go away? :)
