Tommy Thompson Challenges Michael Moore to Debate

by Sean Hackbarth

Tommy Thompson is trying anything to get even a nibble of attention from media. It hasn’t worked. I know this because I only found this press release from his campaign that was sent out Monday.

In the midst of Michael Moore’s flap (P.R. stunt) with CNN he discounted the medical statistics of Dr. Paul Keckley, the executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Dr. Keckley couldn’t be trusted because Thompson chairs the center. The center is good enough for the bi-partisan National Governors Association, but not good enough for Michael Moore. Tommy came out to defend the doctor:

“Paul Keckley is one of the most forthright and capable researchers in America today. His background is second to none and his research methods are impeccable. For Michael Moore to tear down research conducted by this man is shameful,” said Thompson.

“Actually, I thank Michael Moore for bringing health care to the forefront. Having said that, I would gladly debate him on the merits of turning our health care system over to an impersonal federal government. My plan for health care addresses the issues that Michael Moore is concerned about without destroying the delivery system,” said Thompson.
