Michael Deaver, R.I.P.

by Sean Hackbarth

Time passes and our leaders go to places much better than this planet. Mike Deaver, one of Ronald Reagan’s closest advisors, lost a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mike Krempasky
worked with the Deaver at Edelman. Any chance he got he asked questions to get a glimpse of what Reagan’s world was like and how they pulled off all that they did:

Since most of the Reaganites I knew to date were policy warriors or activists, everyone of them could tell you which issue kept them up at night – which issue kept them out of the private sector. I hoped to figure out what made Mike tick – what drove him to serve. I can’t remember how it came up, but I asked him if Communism was his “issue.” Almost instantaneously, he responded, “Ronald Reagan was my issue.”

Godspeed, Mike.

As you can see in that poignant post, Mike Krempasky works for Edelman, the public relations firm which Michael Deaver was International Vice-Chairman of, as noted above, so he actually knew Mr. Deaver….
