Castro Might Be Dead

by Sean Hackbarth

Rumors of Fidel Castro’s death are floating around. Perez Hilton of all places claimed there would be an announcement at 4:00 pm ET. It’s 5:00 now with no news yet.

I’m hoping they’re true. His death would give the U.S. an opening to re-examine its policy towards Cuba, one that has a better chance of freeing the Cuban people.

“Slightly More Credible than Usual Rumor: Castro Dead?”

UPDATE: This Miami Herald story gets into the crests and valleys of Castro rumors the past few weeks.

UPDATE II: Ace is as confused as I am that Perez Hilton is running with this story. It does satisfy my once-per-quarter visit to his site.

One Response to “Castro Might Be Dead”

One suggestion is that Perez heard there was a US government announcement about a Central American leader and jumped to the conclusion that it was about Castro. There really was a government announcement this afternoon regarding Manuel Noriega (I thought he was already dead), instead.

Still, with all the hubbub perhaps Castro will forced to come out of his hole to show the world he is still alive, if barely.
