Netrooter Smacks Elizabeth Edwards

by Sean Hackbarth

Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake and Sen. Joe Lieberman blackface infamy lectured Elizabeth Edwards:

So here’s the rule. You never repeat right wing talking points to attack your own, ever. You never enter that echo chamber as a participant. Ever. You never give them a hammer to beat the left with. Just. Don’t. Do. It.

We love you. We want to love you.

Knock it off.

Now, what did Mrs. Edwards do to get this smackdown? She criticized the MoveOn.org “Gen. Betray Us” ad.

Hamsher’s post drips with arrogance. She lays claim to being “your first line of defense, the only messaging machine that progressives have.”

Therefore, she gets to tell John Edwards’ wife what to say and what not to say.

Hamsher has completely internalized Eli Pariser’s far Left statement in 2004: ““We bought it, we own it, and we’re going to take it back.”

And when Democrats fail to win the White House in 2008 Hamsher won’t take any responsibility for pushing them too far to the Left. Instead, she’ll gripe they weren’t listening to her enough.

While I agree with you that the post is loaded with arrogance, I disagree with your view of the outcome. I, sadly, see Hillary winning. She’s pretty much been annointed the way Bush seemingly was. To a lesser extent among the left, but, once the primaries are over, they’ll fall in line like good little soldiers of Liberal thought. I also see many Americans buying the left’s tripe and saying, “Why not? They can’t do any worse”. Also, there are many Conservatives like me who just are not excited about the Republican front runners. I’m not sure how I’ll vote in the General Election.

The left has positioned itself quite well over the last 16 years. They have cobbled together such a large combined group of co-dependant, government dependent voters. Unions have nothing in common with Homosexuals, except their acceptance and reliance on Democrat promises. Students, educrats, minorities, trial lawyers, bureaucrat/lifelong govt employees, illegal aliens, drop outs, failures and welfare addicts, not to mention abortion lovers. Promise them all a piece of someone else’s pie and they vote Demolib. Every freakish post modern hippy and unhappy socialist vote Demolib.
The rank and file of the military doesn’t. God fearing Christians don’t. The Democratic party abandoned me and the Patriotic values of many like me. But self interest and hand outs promised by Liberal Democrats seem to have bought at least 40% of America. Pelosi, Clinton, Durban, Schumer and Reid sicken me. They love power. Edwards is a clown and snake oil saleman, and Obama is nobody, except being Black gets votes.

The way people fawn over Obama amazes me. If they look up his votes, as well as his non-votes from the Illinois govt’, they’ll see a real far left guy. Now, to the rank and file Dem, they’d vote for almost anyone with a “D” by their name, as will many on the Repub side. That, more than anything else, scares me. I agree with you that the Dem party left me a long time ago. Yet, many on the repub side have done the same.

You say that like it’s a bad thing. Certainly the results of even moderate conservatism getting everything it’s asked for for the past 7 years has been ruinous.

So Obama’s on the left. Obviously. He’s been right about Iraq, right about taxes, right about everything. How about we reward the politicians that have been right all along?

I agree with you that the Dem party left me a long time ago. Yet, many on the repub side have done the same.

Jesus. What the hell do you believe if neither the side of individual dignity nor the side of unrestrained greed are places you feel at home? You sure get some real pieces of work on your blog, Sean.

Sean Sez:>>> “Therefore, she gets to tell John Edwards’ wife what to say and what not to say.”

Nothing new here.

Petraeus fails to toe the leftist line and so is labled a traitor by MoveOver and a liar by MizHillary.

The rise and success of right-side talk radio causes the various Chavez-like orgs to call for the reinstitution of the miss-named “Fairness Doctrine”, backed by congressional kooks such as Kucinich, Durbin, and Feinstein.

However, the level of arrogance displayed by this firedog (no doubt..), thinking she has any sway whatsoever over the strong-willed Liz Edwards, is truly amusing. But as we know, that is the commielib way.

So much for Mrs. Edward’s first amendment rights. I thought those on the left were big fans of that one?

I doubt the Edwards campaign will be smart enough to seize on this opportunity. But if Mrs. Edwards were smart, she’d be out there screaming how the “radical left” is “trying to take away her First Amendment rights” or “force John to sign on to an extremist agenda”. The options are almost endless.

Reality is that Edwards voting record is one of the least liberal of the Dems in the campaign. There’s little chance he gets the vote from the far left - Obama has the more proven voting record and is the truest “liberal” in the race.

but now he has the chance to still stump on some liberal themes - like poverty - while still appearing to challenge the “radical left”. It’s a win-win for them, if they jump on it.

So much for Mrs. Edward’s first amendment rights.

How about MoveOn’s? Or does the First Amendment, in your view, shield people from any and all criticism so long as they’re not attacking the Administration or its lackeys? That’s a …unique reading, to be sure.

Reality is that Edwards voting record is one of the least liberal of the Dems in the campaign.

That may be, but another reality is that Edwards is running the most liberal campaign, by far. Hilary is lurching to the center. Obama’s just making sense. Edwards has some interesting policies, though.

It’s an embarrassment of riches we have over here in the Dem primary. It’s too bad you guys have to choose from the three stooges.

[…] Bill O’Reilly brought up Jane Hamsher’s arrogant attack on Elizabeth Edwards for not towing the Left-wing line. (What’s with Mrs. Edwards ticking off wacked out women of the political Right and Left?) Both Democratic political analyst Kirsten Powers and conservative radio yapper Tammy Bruce ripped Hamsher for her childish petulance. Gateway Pundit has the video, and NewsBusters.org has the transcript. Save and Share: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. […]
