Obama Slips Away from Condemning MoveOn.org

by Sean Hackbarth

Sen. Barack Obama avoided voting to condemn MoveOn.org’s attack on Gen. Petraeus:

At the same time, however, Obama was indeed present for the vote this morning that came just moments before the MoveOn one. He voted for the Boxer measure condemning the attack on Petraeus and all other members of the military.

MSNBC reports Obama canceled a fundraiser to make today’s votes–at least some of them. I’m guessing he’ll use his vote for Boxer’s resolution as cover.

Slipping away from a politically difficult vote shows Obama’s cowardice, but doesn’t expose him to the attacks Sen. Clinton will get through Election Day 2008. That’s pretty astute.

UPDATE: Sen. Obama preens he is so above politics that he had no need to vote on that “stunt.” Talk about audacity.

People need to get over that stupid ad. “Oh noes! An advocacy group placed an ad! This is worth much time and attention and hand-wringing and the nashing of the teeth!”

Keep manufacturing false outrages, folks.

Obama runs from those types of votes all the time. Proof? Just check his non-votes in Illinois. As for the others who didn’t show, Hillary et al, no surprise again. Moveon owns them.
