She Hearts Ahmadienjad

by Sean Hackbarth

Here we have example #32938 for why you shouldn’t read the Daily Kos for serious discussion. “sallykohn” utters her crush on Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. She goes so far as to call him “cuddly,” this despite her acknowledgment that he’s into the “locking up dissidents, executing of gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy.” So other than being an authoritarian oppressing people he claims to serve he’s a nice guy. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

Anyway, you really have to read the whole thing, with Ahmadinehad letter excerpts, picture s comparing “cuddly” A’jad to Kermit the Frog. I’m looking at this, the Kermit thing, the Jewish Lesbian thing, the “even though he wants to murder me, even though I abhor every he stands for, Bush lied people died” thing, and I’m thinking this has to be some kind of clever spoof. Some rightwing nutjob’s guerrilla raid on Kos, or maybe a nihilist lefty who just wants to poke the righties. Is it really possible for someone to seriously say, “I know he wants to kill me and my kind, but at least he hates the person who wants to stop him from doing that.” Sounds like someone with a perspective problem.

It’s possible this post is a spoof, but with previous posts like “Blood Coal, Not ‘Clean Coal’: Bush Administration relaxes mining regulations today” and “Ding, Dong, Falwell’s Dead” we see a pattern of extreme rhetoric. I’m going to take Sally’s words at face value. Until shown otherwise I think she really does think the wacked-out Iranian leader is as cute as Kermit the Frog.

Point the first: Just scrolling through the first few comments i find several kos posters pointing out how inane that post is. You failed to mention that while claiming that dkos shows “a pattern of extreme rhetoric.”

Point the second: Keep manufacturing pointless outrage over what someone sitting at their desk in their bedroom types on an internet forum. It makes tons of sense to devote false outrage to a blog post than to devote real outrage to actual issues, right?

Right on, DJ. You are my go to guy for false outrage.

Just sayin. People can cherry-pick blog posts in a campaign to paint the “other side” as extremist, ala Bill “Loofah” O’Reilly, or they can focus on important things that Americans actually give a rat’s ass about.

It’s known as “nutpicking.” This is the very model of it.

Ha! I hadn’t heard that term before. Nice.
