Helen Thomas Smacked Down

Hurray! Dana Perino took Helen Thomas down a notch:
Q Why should we depend on him?
MS. PERINO: Because he is the commander on the ground, Helen. He’s the one who is making sure that the situation is moving —
Q You mean how many more people we kill?
MS. PERINO: […]

Packers Lose But are Still Pretty Good

Yes, I freaked when Brett Favre left the game. The hit on his arm didn’t look any worse than other ones he’s taken. But I forget sometimes that he’s 37. When he was in the game he wanted too many long passes. Ryan Grant played fairly well so Favre shouldn’t have been more patient. Aaron […]

CNN Unfairly Bashes Fred

Letting Democrats ask questions at a Republican debate (we’re up to four) demonstrated CNN’s lack of journalistic integrity. This hit piece on Fred Thompson’s answer to a question about the Confederate flag–hardly a pressing GOP issue–only adds additional evidence. Here’s Warner Todd Huston’s analysis:
Not only does CNN try their best to muddy Fred Thompson’s stance […]

CNN Lets Hillary Backer Ask Question at GOP Debate

CNN said the point of the YouTube debate was to show questions that concerned Republican voters. They lied. Keith Kerr. a retired soldier asked the candidates about the ban on gays in the military. For 90% of Republicans this isn’t a pressing issue. But CNN wanted a gotcha question to make the candidates look like […]

FlipperTV

The DNC unleashed a new web toy, FlipperTV. They’ve posted a bunch of GOP Presidential candidate video for users to download and chop up into videos. Presumably it’s for Democrats to attack Republicans, but there’s no reason why a Rudy supporter can’t use the Mitt video and vice-versa.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor

For me television watching has come to catching the Green Bay Packers on Sundays and squeezing in an hour or two every other day during the week to decompress from campaign work. But I did take time out to watch Battlestar Galactica: Razor. My feeling is much like Jonah Goldberg’s. It was okay. Nothing spectacular, […]

Best Receiving Corps in NFL

I was surprised to read the Green Bay Packers have a deeper receiving corps than the (so far) unstoppable New England Patriots:
Entering Thursday night’s NFC showdown with the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium — where the winner between the two 10-1 teams will have the inside track for the conference’s top playoff seed and homefield […]

Fred Thompson Tax Plan Released and Fox News Sunday Video

This morning Fred Thompson released his tax relief plan. I think it’s a bold, conservative move that does what Republicans do best: put more money back in taxpayers’ pockets.
Fred would make the Bush tax cuts permanent, repeals the death tax, ditch the Alternative Minimum Tax, and ease the tax burdens of small business. All these […]

Led Zeppelin to Tour U.S.?

Let’s see if The Cult’s Ian Astbury couldn’t keep his lips zipped:
It was one of those moments where all you can do is look at the guy next to you and wonder, “Did he really just say that?”
Is it possible that Ian Astbury, lead singer of ’80s rock powerhouse the Cult, spilled the beans on […]

Conspiracy Nation

For semi-idealists like myself who hope rational people make well-reasoned decisions at the ballot box this is disturbing:
Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the federal government had warnings about 9/11 but decided to ignore them, a national survey found.
And that’s not the only conspiracy theory with a huge number of true believers in the United States.
The […]

Hey, You Shot My Goats

What’s more strange: a father shooting the family’s pet goats or a family that has pet goats? (I can say this even though I grew up in a small, rural Wisconsin town.)
A man who was upset with his wife for not buying beer took vengeance by shooting the family’s two pet goats, prosecutors say.
Peter W. […]

Hand Check

I hoped all TAM readers had a happy Thanksgiving. I couldn’t get back to Wisconsin this year, but I ate good food with friends in D.C. Adding to the festivities was a Green Bay Packers victory. They’re 10-1 going into next Thursday’s NFC clash of the titans with the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaking of Packers, last week […]

Fred Thompson’s First Iowa Mailer

Here’s something for the really hardcore, political geeks. Fred’s first Iowa mailer.
Much talk is about campaigns’ tv commercials but in Iowa mailers are very important.
