Green is Universally Stupid

by Sean Hackbarth

NBC’s Football Night in America is in the dark. Their symbolic measure will save as much electricity to power the average American house for a month. I notice they didn’t turn off the bright lighted Toyota sign.

This all part of NBC Universal’s “Green is Universal” campaign. And I thought Earth Day made me nauseous. This is a whole week on a bunch of different networks.

The best thing is I don’t get to see Keith Olberman very well. At least these bozos didn’t try to pass one over by claiming they purchased carbon offsets.

UPDATE: Bryan Preston isn’t pleased either. Then Jimmie at The Sundries Shack has an idea:

I suggest that as part of NBC’s “Green is Universal” program, they tell us just how much energy their halftime interviews cost, in pounds of CO2. I’d also be interested to know just how many airmiles Costas, Olbermann, and the rest travel to cover the games, also in total pounds of CO2 emitted. Not that I don’t believe that NBC should broadcast football games, complete with pregame and halftime shows. I just want to know what their carbon footprint is for each broadcast so I can determine whether they have any grounds on which to criticize me for my lifestyle.

Did anyone ask John Madden how many MPG his stupid horse trailer gets?

What do you think of the news in this morning’s Washington Post that your tax dollar (and mine) is being used to purchase $89,000 worth of ‘carbon credits’ to support the carbon plant (and carbon state lobbyists) at the Capitol. I’m seeing red. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/04/AR2007110401663.html?wpisrc=newsletter

NBC’s Green Political Football…

As I’ve written numerous times at OTB Sports, NBC and ESPN have combined to ruin late night NFL telecasts. ESPN, which now has Monday Night Football, is the worst of the lot, treating every game as a preseason exhibition, constantly chattering a…

[…] NBC is fine that you have a “Green is Universal” campaign. However, do so when it would be deemed appropriate. I do not expect football scores or interviews with head coaches while watching Tim Russert. How about you do the same for sports fans?  NBC and Football Night in America is truly in the dark.  […]

“criticize me for my lifestyle.”

Yeah.. that’s what this is about. You guys don’t like having your feelings hurt? You’ve got to be f-ing kidding me.

Noone’s criticizing your lifestyle… just trying to get a message out.

If you didn’t take everything personally and weren’t so whiny, you conservatives might actually understand liberals a lot better than you do. You think you’re being attacked all the time… guess what, it’s not about you, and you aren’t the victim.

6

Haha, no doubt. I thought liberals were supposed to be the whiny ones? Sean, looking for a seat on the whaaaaambulance?

7

Just trying to get a message out? And that message would be that NBC is the biggest group of hypocrites about carbon neutrality? That carbon neutrality is a sham? That global warming scares are a hoax?

Exactly what message are we talking about here?

Quite possibly the dumbest stunt ever seen on sports TV.

Nay, TV period.

But who listens to that pregame/halftime/post broadcast anyway? Chris Collingsworth? Blowberman? Bob “I wanna be Dick Clark” Costas? King? gech. After getting through the first game I now turn the sound off and crank some Robin Trower or something during halftime.

(Side Bar 1: The song stinks and is but a pimple on the kickazz hide of Hank Jr.’s “Are You Ready?”, but Pink at least put a little meat into it. Now we’ve got a girly-girl throwing a girly-girl punch. sheesh.)

Only the classy Al and the in-to-it-goofy Madden save the whole thing.

(Side Bar 2: lessee. NBC-TV going greeny. NBC: subsidiary of GE. GE: biggest wind-turbin generator manufacturer in the world. Coinkydink, I am sure.)

People are sheep, those who yell the loudest are the ones who they will follow.

Anyone remember the ozone scare about 10-15 years ago? They said the ozone is depleting so fast that we will have to wear full clothing when we go out side in 10-15 years… what happened to all that? Oh! Wait! The ozone is closing, not depleting. Scientists were WRONG then and they’re wrong now!

People need to start thinking and stop following! Read the facts people: http://www.oism.org/pproject/s33p36.htm

I’m all for conserving energy and all but think about all the marketing and publicity to sell the green lifestyle, it’s unreal. The free market should decide how we choose what suits us best. I don’t want anyone telling what light bulbs to buy, what car I should drive and what foods to eat. If you like that, move to a communist country, you’ll love it there!

Scientists were WRONG then and they’re wrong now!

Wow, you’re an idiot. Yes, the ozone hole stopped growing - because we succeeded with policies that eliminated the pollutants that were causing it. Scientists were right; because we listened to them, a crisis was averted.

Don’t mistake a dodged bullet for a gun that wasn’t loaded.

Thats it. I’m emmigrating the F out. These comments show how stupid americans actually are. The fact that the mainstream view is so evil really makes me sick.
