Helen Thomas Smacked Down

by Sean Hackbarth

Dana Perino

Hurray! Dana Perino took Helen Thomas down a notch:

Q Why should we depend on him?

MS. PERINO: Because he is the commander on the ground, Helen. He’s the one who is making sure that the situation is moving —

Q You mean how many more people we kill?

MS. PERINO: Helen, I find it really unfortunate that you use your front row position, bestowed upon you by your colleagues, to make such statements. This is a — it is an honor and a privilege to be in the briefing room, and to suggest that we, at the United States, are killing innocent people is just absurd and very offensive.

Q Do you know how many we have since the start of this war?

MS. PERINO: How many — we are going after the enemy, Helen. To the extent that any innocent Iraqis have been killed, we have expressed regret for it.

Q Oh, regret. It doesn’t bring back a life.

MS. PERINO: Helen, we are in a war zone, and our military works extremely hard to make sure that everyone has the opportunity for liberty and freedom and democracy, and that is exactly what they are doing.

I’m going to move on.

What a surprise that the new White House spokesperson would be every bit as disingenuous and evasive as before.

“How dare you suggest we kill innocent people! I mean, we do, but we’re sorry about it, so it doesn’t count.”

What a load of bullshit.

Perino would melt me down if I was a member of the White House press corps!

That woman should have been smacked down a long time ago….literally.

Wow, Kate. So, for the heinous crime of asking questions in a White House press briefing, you think the appropriate punishment is for someone to physically strike a 90-year-old woman?

Dana Perino came out looking like an evasive bully. But I guess that’s just what the 20-percenters look for in their leaders.

Thomas was way out of line – yet again. Go Dana!

Chet, she doesn’t actually ask questions. She attacks. She’s not a REAL reporter. Reporters actually ask a question and listen to the answer.

Chet, she doesn’t actually ask questions.

Funny, because there’s at least three questions in the quoted material above. You know, questions? Those things that end with question marks?

Reporters actually ask a question and listen to the answer.

How charmingly naive. Were you under the mistaken impression that Dana Perino is actually there to answer questions, or that she was able to answer any of Thomas’s?

I find it hilariously arrogant for Dana Perino to assert that it’s such an “honor and privilege” to be lied to by her. Dana Perino isn’t fit to shine Helen Thomas’s shoes.

Some questions for you.

Do you prefer giving it or taking it? How do you abuse yourself?

Some more.
Are you from Wisconsin and if so were you born here? What are your interests and hobbies?

Now, do you get the difference between questions that are really questions vs. attacks disguised as questions.

Just to follow up.

I am not accusing Chet of anything in my first set of question they are designed to illustrate my point.

However, I do accuse Chet of being obtuse on the matter in characterizing Helen’s questions as questions instead of what they really are.

Awwww…MA…you expect him to answer those things with the question marks at the hind end? They weren’t loaded enough.

Criminy Chet…can you possibly take the things that come from the woman’s mouth as REAL questions? Sounds like a ‘do you still beat your wife’. sigh…

Do you know how many we have since the start of this war?

That’s a question, people, and it has a factual answer. You just don’t like the woman who asked it, and you’re afraid of the answer, because you know it’s a big number – a number much bigger than anything we’ve accomplished there would justify.

It’s just that simple. It’s not a loaded question. It’s a question that you’re afraid of. Big difference.
