TAM at CPAC 2008
Another CPAC means another chance for me at Bloggers Row. What will I see, what will I do, what will Ann Coulter say to tick me off?
Those are three minor questions. The big question is how will Sen. John McCain be received? He speaks today before a group of conservatives that distrust him. Judging from his remarks yesterday, it’s going to be tough going for him:
“I do hope that at some point we would just calm down a little bit and see if there’s areas we can agree on,” McCain said of his conservative critics at a press conference in Phoenix yesterday.
…
“I think some people want to own the word ‘conservative,’ ” said South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent McCain supporter who has also faced criticism within the party for his positions on certain issues. “What I think he should do is what he’s done his whole life: Tell people who he is and what he believes.”
This reeks of triumphalism. I hope that isn’t the case today.

UPDATE: Ed Morrissey links to a letter leaked by the McCain campaign attacking Sen. Obama two years ago. It’s snide in the McCain sort of way, but it should be some red meat to conservative critics. Bravo, Team McCain.

Did I not say yesterday that “calm down” pushed buttons?!! I only heard the end of Laura Ingram’s introduction of Mitt Romney at CPAC, but seems she was using it as a slap for John McCain. As I type this, Mitt is starting his speech. He is not pulling any punches. The headlines say that he is going to drop out. Probably so, but sounds like he is going to go out swinging…
