Ace of Spades, Weblogger of the Year

Congratulations to Ace of Spades for being named the “Blogger of the Year” at CPAC.

In his speech–yes, Ace gave a speech–he talked about how we didn’t need to tolerate a political class telling us things have to be a certain way. He said we may never see another Reagan again, but we can still stand up and be heard on issues like amnesty for illegal immigrants. Alternative media like weblogs and talk radio gives average citizens a better chance to be heard. Ace embodies that spirit and his award is well-deserved.

Congratulations to Ace.

I don’t share The American Mind’s view that talk radio is a form of alternative media that represents average citizens. When I listen to talk radio, I most often hear shrill iconoclasts spewing demagoguery. Most average citizens, thank God, don’t act like that. Radio also has been on the market for 100 years and isn’t typically considered “alternative,” unless you’re talking about shortwave radio. If you want some alternative perspective, tune in to shortwave on a Friday night. Oh lordy.

[…] As an anonymous blogger, it was hard to know how Ace would react to the award. He caught many in the crowd by surprise during his acceptance speech. His fellow bloggers at CPAC had nothing but praise. Check out the coverage from the Weekly Standard, Right Wing News, NOVA Townhall, NewsBusters, Little Miss Attila, The American Mind, and last year’s winner, N.Z. Bear. […]
