I’m pretty sure they have some medication for that.

Unless you are a Republican talking about how great this country is…

2

I don’t get the Obama allure, leg tingling or not. He is a completely empty suit, the next Jimmy Cawtah.

Actual Obama campaign commercial quote: “…stop giving tax breaks tuh companies that are moving overseas and give those tax breaks tuh companies who are investing in the United States of America.”

Ignorance has no better barker.

He’s really not. I know that’s the popular conservative insult, but it’s obviously false; he’s got a decade of experience in public office, he’s taught constitutional law at one of the country’s most prestigious law schools, and during his time in the senate he’s sponsored a dozen or so successful bills, including a bill funding border fences, the Obama-Coburn Transparency Act, and an initiative to protect the nation’s airliners from shoulder-fired missiles.

Empty suit? That’s McCain talking about fighting Al-Queda. As always you haven’t got the slightest idea what you’re talking about, MjM. Just keep repeating the “empty suit” mantra your chattering classes tell you to recite.

4

This is what I get for biting, and listening to Chris Matthews - a “tingling up my leg” equals objective assessment?!?

Chet, you have a point. I liked Obama when he was handing out empty-suit rhetoric. Now that he wants $210 billion to “create” jobs, I’m seriously worried that Hillary won’t get the nomination.

5

Y’all know that there’s a whole section on Obama’s website that details what he says he wants to accomplish if elected, right? And yes, shockingly enough, if you click on “economy” it goes into much more detail than “we will hope and become unified.”

But, hey, if you wanna keep parroting “empty suit, empty suit,” go right ahead.

6

Tee bee, which party did you think Obama was running with? Honestly you seem shocked to find out that it’s possible for a candidate to both be liberal and talk about God.

Honestly, though, if he turns people like you off, that’s all the more reason for me to support him. You people on the right are all that’s wrong with America right now.

7

Chet, this is what I get for biting, and listening to Chris Matthews, and acknowledging your comment: you speciously try to put words in my mouth.

What party did I think he was running with? The other tax and spend party, of course.

However, if $210 billion for one! ONE! part of a pol’s economic package doesn’t at least cause you to raise an eyebrow, then you’re too far gone to converse with.

8

$210 billion is, like, what? One-tenth of the cost of the war in Iraq? If war spending isn’t supposed to be tied to any particular budget, why tie anything else? And, remember, that’s $210 billion over ten years, not one lump sum payment as you’ve construed it. And at least the American people stand to benefit from that expenditure. Don’t you think actual Americans deserve it?

How else do you think it’s going to work, tee bee? Tax cuts for corporations? Most corps don’t pay any income tax at all, as it is. You can’t get lower than zero.

Cester, chester. Will thoust never learn?

>> he’s got a decade of experience in public office,

… 8 of which were spent voting “present” on the most controversial issues passing through the Illinois legislature. Of course, he was certainly happy voting for 300 new taxes and fees on Illini businesses and against allowing a self-defense defense for people who violated (unconstitutional)local gun bans, even if the self-defense occurred in their home.

>>> he’s taught constitutional law at one of the country’s most prestigious law schools,

THAT should be the clue. See above. Official Title: “Senior Lecturer”.

Those that can do, do, those that can’t teach.
(w/apologies to Chancellor)

>>>during his time in the senate he’s sponsored a dozen or so successful bills

Geeze. Ya mean he did what a couple hundred other folks did?

Whoop-dee-friggn’-doo.

If that’s your measure, you should support McCain; I’m sure he has many, many more than “a dozen or so”.

But here’s some of Obama’s more important “work”:

S.RES.529 A resolution designating July 13, 2006, as “National Summer Learning Day”.

S.RES.291 : A resolution to congratulate the Chicago White Sox on winning the 2005 World Series Championship.

S.CON.RES.42 : A concurrent resolution recognizing the historical significance of the Juneteenth Independence Day, and expressing the sense of Congress that history should be regarded as a means for understanding the past and solving the challenges of the futurezzzzzzzzz.

( sorry, nodded of there… )

S.2047 : A bill to promote healthy communities.

(Shear Genius! Nobody thought of THAT before!)

S.2984 : A bill to require certain profitable oil companies to expend 1 percent of recent quarterly profits to install E-85 fuel pumps in the United States.

(direct specific targeting of forced taxation; just as the Founding Fathers had hoped!)

S.3163 : A bill to extend temporarily the suspension of duty on certain epoxy molding compounds.

(a-huh, uh, never mind… the afore mentioned …)

S. 2261: The Transparency and Integrity in Earmarks Act

(…and then…)

S.AMDT.808 to H.R.6 To establish a program to develop Fischer-Tropsch transportation fuels from Illinois basin coal.

OK, at least he’s open about snorkeling the public trough.

“Obama […writing his recipe for economic disaster in the best Jimmy Cawtah style…] explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.” -MSNBC

To DJ: Yes, the BEST place to get OBJEVTIVE review is from the pols own website. Lap it up, son.

To tee bee: Chester? Far gone? NAWWWwwwwwww.

… 8 of which were spent voting “present” on the most controversial issues passing through the Illinois legislature.

Well, that’s just nonsense. Sure, like every other senator in the country, he’s voted “present” on some issues.

Of course, he was certainly happy voting for 300 new taxes and fees on Illini businesses and against allowing a self-defense defense for people who violated (unconstitutional)local gun bans, even if the self-defense occurred in their home.

I’m not hearing the down side. Taxes are needed to pay for government, businesses need to pay fees, and you can hardly argue an immediate need for “self-defense” when you’re breaking gun ban laws.

Those that can do, do

Do what, MjM? Are you saying that Obama’s experience in constitutional law is irrelevant because he didn’t spend that time writing constitutions? You’re an idiot.

Oh, re: learning -

Will thoust never learn?

It’s “wilst thou”, because “thou” isn’t a verb. Apparently even the English language is beyond your grasp.

If that’s your measure, you should support McCain; I’m sure he has many, many more than “a dozen or so”.

Does he, MjM? Specifically which bills can you think of? There’s one bill he’s put his name on, in twenty years, and it’s the one you all hate: McCain-Feingold. If there’s a more lackluster Senate career, I can’t think of it. Even Kerry had accomplished more than McCain.

Truly, MjM, there’s nobody who brings less than to the conversation here than you do. Between your ignorance of Senate history, the records of Obama and McCain, and even your own language (”shear genius”, etc) it’s a wonder you can even operate a computer.

>>>Well, that’s just nonsense.

Glad you agree. Ducking and hiding from the tough stuff makes one unworthy of public office.

>>I’m not hearing the down side.

I figured as much. However, the two issues were mentioned and the points made (which went zzzip! over your head) to 1) contrast the quote in my first post and Obamamama’s real-life record and 2) display certain evidence of disdain, whether of ignorance or worse, intention, for the Constitution of your favored constitutional law teacher.

>>> Does he, MjM? Specifically which bills can you think of?

None come to mind at present and I have other plans for the day. Say, I have great idea. Why don’t you do your own homework for a change instead of glomming off everyone else?

>> It’s “wilst thou”,

yeah yeah, whatever. I’ve never claimed to be a Shakespearean playwright. Congratulations. A puny point scored for your puny hasty-witted self.

>>> (”shear genius”, etc)

heh heh. Once again, zzzzip! right over your head, chester.

DUCK! Just like Obama.

12

None come to mind at present

Which is kind of my point.

display certain evidence of disdain, whether of ignorance or worse, intention, for the Constitution of your favored constitutional law teacher.

Only an idiot would think so. The Second Amendment doesn’t proscribe unlimited gun ownership for everyone, and it certainly doesn’t say “don’t make fees for businesses” or what have you. Obama’s initiatives are completely consistent with the constitution - contrast that with McCain’s votes on suspending habeas corpus.
