Ron Paul Refuses to Debate

by Sean Hackbarth

For all intents and purposes Rep. Ron Paul has given up his quixotic Presidential race and is focusing on winning re-election to the Congress. When he was a full-time seeker of the Presidency he complained Fox News was “scared” of him and so excluded him from a debate. Paul’s supporters claimed neocon conspiracies against the only “true conservative” in the GOP race.

Now that Paul has a primary challenge from Chris Peden a one-on-one debate isn’t important:

Sad.

I’m not sad for Paul. We know he has serious flaws. I’m sad for most of his passionate supporters who put so much time, effort, and money (the Ron Paul blimp has a debt) into a campaign they thought would change America.

All but the least rational Paul supporters have come to the conclusion that “Dr. No” isn’t that different from you, me, or most politicians. When it comes right down to it he wants to get re-elected.

I know why Paul won’t debate Peden. It’s because he’s the front-runner. Paul has nothing to gain for putting himself on the same stage as a long-shot competitor. But speaking that truth would undermine the objections Paul and his supporters had for excluding him from a Presidential debate.

“Why Won’t Ron Paul Debate His Congressional Primary Opponent?”

UPDATE: I’m so disappointed in the Paul supporters. It’s like they even understand Paul’s reasoning is indefensible. That’s a good thing. They’re on the way to some sort of enlightenment.

I’m always amazed when the MSM presents half truths and 100% lies. But when a no name blogg models the same dishonest intetions then perhaps an agenda is at hand.

Paul has not dropped out of either races… A quick search could have saved what little character you have.

Also, notice this person is a Fred Thompson supporter he offers serious flaws which have been debunked with each congressional run.

Why, not support the law of the land and help turn our ecnomic issues around… Ron Paul is the only dog in the race who will cut the budget and help save our economy everyone else will spend, spend, spend just like a donkey.

By the way how many times did Ron Paul place higer then Fred Thompson?

Peden? Is another liar so why debate a man who bears false witnsess? Few even know who he is. At a rally a few weeks ago Paul had close to a 1000 and Peden? Just under 50? What’s wrong with that picuture?

“Serious flaws” you say. Oh, the newsletters again, of course.
What, doesn’t RP bring home enough pork for you?

Darel, I never wrote that Paul dropped out of any race. Even he admits he’s not going to be the GOP nominee. He’s focusing on his Congressional primary for a reason.

I wasn’t just a Thompson supporter; I was a campaign staffer. ECampaign co-director to be exact. What that has to do with Paul looking like a hypocrite and refusing to debate an opponent, I don’t know.

[I know it’s pointless trying to confront a Paul supporter, but give me an A for effort.]

I hope when Ron Paul cuts that budget he leaves some money for schools that will devote resources to eliminating run-on sentences and unnecessary commas. Yowch.

DJ, the Department of Education isn’t in the constitution. That means zero federal money for schools. Yet I don’t think that necessarily a bad thing.

Because your private elementary schooling did a bang-up job teaching you to remember to use all your verbs. ;)

So sadly misinformed this author, Sean Hackbarth is. But then again, maybe he’s not misinformed.. maybe he’s just out to make a little money off of Google and so will write whatever crap comes to mind that he thinks will spur visits to his web page.

Wow, if there was ever a monolithic block of voters, it’s the Ron Paul crew.

I thought someone as alturistic as RP portends to be would want his voters to SEE the difference between him and his primary opponent. I would have thought RP (who, btw, walks on water), would have wanted to highlight his stance, and backed with sound reasoning, why he deserves to go back to the House of Rep. Aren’t supporters of RP supposed to be the “most informed” voters in the US?

I commend you Mr. Hackbarth for highlighting the hypocrisy of Mr. Paul. Thank you.

Btw, to answer the question as to why RP continues to run, despite having no chance of winning the nomination? To continue to build his “Cult of Personality” that is evidenced by his on-line defenders.
