Obama Adds to Classic Democratic Photos

by Sean Hackbarth

Even the uber-cool, uber-hip Sen. Barack Obama can look like a dork.

Obama joins a line of fellow Democratic Presidential candidates who took some bad photographs:

For Sen. Hope he didn’t wait until the primary season was over.

[…] Now that he’s taken his own uber-dorky Democratic Presidential candidate photo. […]

2

Of course, nobody can forget John McCain’s classic “Baghdad stroll”, right?

3

Chet, he doesn’t look goofy in that one. But be patient I have an idea forming in my mind. I’ll try to get it up tonight, but more likely tomorrow.

4

>>>I’ll try to get it up tonight,

um, uh.. ahem… I don’t wanna know.

5

How exactly does Obama look “dorky” there? Having a little fun, maybe…

Do you really want Chet and me to start posting all the terrible Bush photos that are out there?

6

Here’s another classic “Bush looks like an idiot” photo.

7

By the way, just so you know, silly photos of Obama aren’t gonna work against him. In fact, they’re mostly cute! have you seen lolbama yet?

8

Chet, he doesn’t look goofy in that one.

To the contrary - he looks like a fucking moron.

At least in the context of his “we’ve made Iraq so safe you can stroll around there… with a flack jacket and an armed retinue, for a period no longer than 45 minutes at a time” statements.

9

Chet, it’s not the situation, it’s that McCain was tortured during the war with an ugly stick. Dressing him up only helps.

Gonna have to work on the Obama one. The Heisman thing has me wondering if I missed the part about him playing football in his (earlier) youth.

10

Obama’s Heisman pose is off, and he looks like he’s worried he’ll drop the award. This is easily the worst photo I’ve seen of him.

11

Try to find some bad George H.W. Bush and Reagan ones.

McCain was tortured during the war with an ugly stick.

DAMN!

Well played, tee bee; you’ve effectively diffused any cheap shot a Democrat could possibly throw at him this year by bringing the low blows yourself. ;)

Here’s a pretty silly HW one, granted from later than 1988.

And here’s a pretty silly one of Reagan.

Still, i think you and i are coming from different places on this one, Sean. Apparently you think it’s important that a President somehow manage to look always presidential, all the time. I really don’t care about that; in fact, i’m relieved when i see a Presidential candidate be relaxed enough to come off as a friggin’ human being.

Additionally, keep in mind that we’re in the internet age now. Tons more silly photos of Dubya or McCain or whoever are going to show up these days than photos of Reagan or HW. Different times. Again, not that it matters. I’ve always thought it weird that conservatives seem to be so uptight that a politician looking “silly” comes off as a negative in their eyes. Then again, i suppose that’s the definition of “conservative” when it comes to appearance, right? Don’t relax, for the love of god! Someone might not take you seriously when you’re in formal mode!

DJ, my view is simple: if you look like a goof you look like a goof.

>>>…if you look like a goof you look like a goof.

Been there. Done that.

Haven’t we all?
