Obama’s Race Speech
Hard as it may seem I still haven’t watched Sen. Barack Obama’s race speech. I haven’t had a chance to give it the time it deserves. I’ve heard and read a little commentary but want to keep an open mind.
Going through the comments I’ve seen some are talking about it on a post from a few days ago. Here’s a chance to hash it out as a conversation all its own.

I commend your intent to watch and take in the whole speech, Sean. However, your revelation that you haven’t even watched or read it yet makes your “Obama Heard Wright Remarks” post come off as even more boneheaded and knee-jerk than it originally appeared. You probably should have waited to post anything until you got a chance to really take it in, rather than echo some other right-wing blogger.
Do yourself a favor: listen to the entire speech with an open mind, like you say you want to. Don’t just poke around in it sniffing for some “gotcha” moment like every other right-wing blogger and commenter i’ve read. People on your side of the ideological fence are sounding really stupid right now, skimming over Obama’s “we can talk about race in a sensationalist manner, but then in the next election there will just be another distraction keeping us from real issues” and choosing instead to do just that–discuss race as sensationalism.
Don’t be that guy.
