Obama’s Race Speech

by Sean Hackbarth

Hard as it may seem I still haven’t watched Sen. Barack Obama’s race speech. I haven’t had a chance to give it the time it deserves. I’ve heard and read a little commentary but want to keep an open mind.

Going through the comments I’ve seen some are talking about it on a post from a few days ago. Here’s a chance to hash it out as a conversation all its own.

I commend your intent to watch and take in the whole speech, Sean. However, your revelation that you haven’t even watched or read it yet makes your “Obama Heard Wright Remarks” post come off as even more boneheaded and knee-jerk than it originally appeared. You probably should have waited to post anything until you got a chance to really take it in, rather than echo some other right-wing blogger.

Do yourself a favor: listen to the entire speech with an open mind, like you say you want to. Don’t just poke around in it sniffing for some “gotcha” moment like every other right-wing blogger and commenter i’ve read. People on your side of the ideological fence are sounding really stupid right now, skimming over Obama’s “we can talk about race in a sensationalist manner, but then in the next election there will just be another distraction keeping us from real issues” and choosing instead to do just that–discuss race as sensationalism.

Don’t be that guy.

And nobody wants to hire you for your political experience and informed insight? Amazing!

>>>skimming over Obama’s “we can talk about race in a sensationalist manner, but then in the next election there will just be another distraction keeping us from real issues”

A.K.A., “Please ignore my 20-yr fascination and relationship with an hate filled anti-American racist and talk about something else”

Case in point: MjM’s thirst for “gotcha” politics as usual. It’s funny how Obama intelligently explains how a human being can have many facets to their person only to have people like MjM gloss over that in favor of soundbite politics.

Every criticism you can hurl at him was addressed in the speech, MjM. But i understand if it’s more convenient for your ideology to ignore that.

>>>It’s funny how Obama intelligently explains how a human being can have many facets to their person…

It took Obama to teach you that?

>>>Every criticism you can hurl at him was addressed in the speech,

Really?

Did he explain which parenting class taught him to subject his children to such anti-American racist hate speech on a regular basis?

Did he offer reasons why he gave $20grand+ to Wright knowing full-well of his theological bend and diatribes against America, white folk, and Jews?

Did he explain why he threw his own grandmother under the bus?

Did he elaborate on his lie that it’s too important to dismiss off-hand the comments of Geraldine Ferraro, “as some have”, when it was he himself who was first in line to do so?

Did he outline the tenets of his chosen church’s Black Liberation Theology, who’s most prominent practitioner and promoter writes of it, “If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.” ?

The purpose of the speech was nothing more than an attempt to turn heads away from the man behind the curtain.

It didn’t work. The curtain will be fully drawn.

How regular, MjM? Be specific. Be careful - this question will reveal whether or not you’re talking out of your ass.

And you must be delusional if you don’t think hate speech is a feature of nearly every American church. Why should the rules be different for black people?

Did he explain why he threw his own grandmother under the bus?

Under what bus?

Forget it Chet. This line is enough proof that MjM’s talking out of his ass.
