Samantha Power Still Tells Iraq Truth

Samantha Power

It hasn’t been long since Harvard professor Samantha Power removed herself from Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign. In a talk Tuesday night, she apologized for calling Sen. Clinton a “monster,” but refused to back down from her conflicting view of how a President Obama would handle Iraq:

“I now am in my first ever political attack ad,” said Power. “And it does no justice to what I was saying and does no justice to a responsible position, which I am sure will entail looking out for U.S. security and that, with the passage of time, things are going to look different then they did in 2007.”

Earlier this month, Power told a U.K. television audience Obama’s promise of pulling out U.S. troops in 16 months was a “best case scenario.” I think speaking that truth was the real reason Power left Obama’s campaign.

In last night’s talk Power even hinted she might be a part of an Obama administration. Anti-war supporters should ask Obama how serious he is about pulling out of Iraq. The rest of the American public deserves an answer from the Illinois Senator. Does he still support and unrealistic Iraq pullout, or does he secretly hold the realistic views of Power?
