Dean Calls McCain’s Military Service Opportunistic

Dr. Howard Dean, the gift that keeps on giving. In response to Sen. John McCain’s latest video Dr. Dean offered this backhanded compliment:
While we honor McCain’s military service, the fact is Americans want a real leader who offers real solutions, not a blatant opportunist who doesn’t understand the economy and is promising to keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years.
Tell us how you really feel about McCain, doctor. I suppose getting shot down over North Vietnam and being a POW was part of an “opportunistic” plan to become President too. Getting his teeth punched out was a nice touch.
Next time, don’t hold back, Dr. Dean. Let it all come out. Scream it from the mountain tops.
Unlike McCain who seems to be coordinating strategy with the RNC I doubt Obama or Clinton will want Dean anywhere near them during the general election.
“The President Americans Have Been Waiting For”
UPDATE: It’s been a month since Howard Dean, M.D. last smeared McCain:
Well, now it looks like John McCain is part of the corruption problem in Washington. He has done things that are legally questionable — the Keating Five business back in the ’90s — but he doesn’t seem to really have an ethical compass. He doesn’t seem to have an instinct about what is the right thing to do and what isn’t the right thing to do. He talks a good game, but he’s just like all those Republicans in Washington have been for all these years, and I don’t think the American people want a president like that.
He must have worried about getting out of practice.
UPDATE II: Dr. Dean needs a history lesson about what he said in 2004:
The real issue is this. Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?
I wish I could make up this stuff.
