Romney VP Opposition is About 2012 (or 2016)

My Man Mitt’s Justin Hart thinks Mitt Romney’s Mormonism is a reason why some Christian Conservatives oppose him as Vice President:
Matt Lewis points to a Huckabee motive. David Brody has a headache over this thing. But I see another motif at play here.
Am I blowing smoke about the hidden anti-Mormon agenda of many of the signatories who signed onto the God Not Government post?
Well, let’s review. Granted, these excerpts don’t come anywhere close to equating Mormonism to Homosexuality, but even I was a bit shocked by some of these quotes.
My main point is this: if you want your egregious arguments to hold any water at all… don’t include anti-Mormons on your list of adherents.
Justin then lists a number of critical quotes about Mormonism. Matt Lewis sees it as Mike Huckabee supporters trying to throw their (limited) weight around.
It’s safe to assume the signers of the letter aren’t McCain fans. I don’t think they’d mind if McCain lost in the general election. I think their concern is about Romney running again in 2012. In the run-up to the Florida primary talk radio hosts and many conservatives rallied around Romney as the anti-McCain candidate. After Super Tuesday Romney received a good response for withdrawing. Mitt’s been building some goodwill that could make him the heir-apparent for the 2012 nomination. He’s young and will make a boatload of money to fund a future campaign. That has to infuriate those who think he’s a fake conservative or can’t imagine a Mormon in the White House.
The ad is about shaping the battle space for 2012.

I’d support a Mormon like talk-show host Gleen Beck, ho hasn’t Romney’s resume, but seems sober and sincere. To me, Romney doesn’t. Not only has he conformed to voter constituencies like molded plastic, I saw him change his principles from venue to venue. I’m even certain I detected the tell-tale brief polician’s pause, which asks oneself the question, “Lessee, what should I say, now?”
If Glenn Beck is a more sincere man than Romney, Fred Thompson is a better actor.
