“Fitna” vs. “Schism”
In response to Geert Wilders’ Fitna a Saudi put together Schism, a collection of Bible verses and not-so-flattering images of the “best of the West.”
Has the clash of civilizations hit YouTube? Sort of.
Der Spiegel reports:
Al-Saeed told the English-language Saudi newspaperArab News Thursday that he made the film in less than 24 hours in order to demonstrate that Islam should not be judged by watching “Fitna,” which he believes gives a distorted view of Islam. He added that he believed “Fitna” was “based on hate” and reflects Wilders’ “racism and hatred.”
Both videos reflect Man’s inhumanity to man. Wilders’ film does a poor job differentiating Islamist ideology from Islam the religion. If a mosque was built in my neighborhood or a Muslim family moved in next door my first inclination wouldn’t be to assume they’re terrorist sympathizers seeking to make me live under Sharia.
Al-Saeed isn’t off the hook either. You can’t compare soldiers wacking some Iraqi kids around to launching planes into skyscrapers or beheading hostages.
Watch them both then let me know what you think?
