Obama Shoots Down Lincoln-Douglas Debate

by Sean Hackbarth

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s call for a Lincoln-Douglas-style debate (which really isn’t) received the same reaction as when Fred Thompson proposed it to front-running Republicans last year (back when Mike Huckabee didn’t matter).

Let me disagree with Alan Stewart Carl. If I were Obama I’d avoid this type of debate. Obama’s comparative advantage is his soaring speeches. As shown in the Philadelphia debate he gets into trouble in debates. In some less structured debate further weakness would be displayed.
