Obama Distances Himself from Wacky Wright

Sen. Barack Obama denounced the hateful, arrogant spoutings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright from yesterday’s farcical address at the National Press Club.
That’s the story, but the real story is Obama finally had to hold a press conference. You know things were bad in Camp Obama if he felt the need to talk to reporters.
The first question was why the change in tone from Obama. He had the audacity to say, “What particularly angered me was the suggestion that my previous remarks were political posturing.” So Obama didn’t like the fact Wright dirtied up his “new kind of politics” suit he’s been wearing successfully for months. Wright’s remark cut too close to the bone. It threatens Obama’s brand-managed “authenticity.” Since he lacks leadership experience he can’t afford to let his core competency be undermined.
That’s called “playing to your strengths.” Or in other words “playing the political game.” New politics: same as the old politics. Somethings don’t change. Obama should get back to reading Aristotle or at least Machiavelli.
Obama also had the audacity to feel like Wright changed. Bull Dog Pundit doesn’t buy it:
I did learn however, that this guy’s [Wright’s] kookiness is not limited to “sound bites”. The full version is just as loopy, and there’s absolutely no chance in hell that Obama wasn’t aware of it having gone to his church for 20 years (although he was mysteriously absent from church when all the “sound bite” moments occurred).
An interesting angle is what role the Clintons had in promoting Wright. The host of the National Press Club event is a Clinton backer. Wright did revel in calling Obama’s distancing from him political calculation. With the gleam in his eyes you could see Wright metaphorically jabbing the dagger into Obama’s side. I wouldn’t be shocked if this was Clintonian. Since there are no upcoming debates Team Hillary can go hog wild without having a debate moderator question Sen. Clinton.
I’m not in the “Obama’s doomed” camp. It’s not the greatest time for this flap to come up, but it’s not the worst. The worst would be late October. Obama has time to ease the concerns of Democratic superdelegates and get independent swing voters to not think he’s a Black Power radical. We’ll get to see how good a politician Obama is. It won’t quell the MSM in the short term. They smell blood and will eat up the latest bit of drama in an amazing Presidential cycle.
“Obama’s Reverend Wright Press Conference”

The Damage is already done, & seeds of doubt are already planted. The only thing to see is if American’s will forget about this before it matters or not. As a Pennsylvanian & so called “bitter, small town, supporter of the 2nd ammendment” I am against our country going totally socialist, & I still feel Barry has a lot of other strikes against him that he still has to try to skirt. I think the Dems still have a lot of issues to work through & McCain can watch the entertainment while strolling twoards the White House
