Obama’s Portland Musical Support

I’m not sure what the point is in trying to figure out what percentage of the people at Sen. Obama’s rally in Portland was strictly for the candidate and what percentage came to see The Decemberists. I also heard last weekend was the first really nice one in Portland so many people came out simply to enjoy the weather.

Whatever the reason the Obama campaign was smart enough to use the musical support. It got people to hear Obama’s message and grow his support. The event was a success. It’s not any different than Fred Thompson having country star John Rich do events for him.

It is interesting The Decemberists begin their sets with the Soviet National Anthem, but that just tells me they’re socialists like most of them. Finding a rock and roll conservative (who isn’t Ted Nugent) is a struggle.
