WorldNetDaily Purpetuates Soros-McClellan Connection
Good grief. WorldNetDaily runs with the Vast Left-wing Publishing Conspiracy:
Billionaire George Soros, funder of elite causes and critic of most things conservative, has been linked by a blogger to former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s anti-Bush book, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception.”
Writers at the Little Green Footballs blog report the company that published McClellan’s spill-all book is PublicAffairs Books, which in turn is owned by Perseus Book Group.
“The firm is owned by Perseus Funds Group (holding company Perseus LLC), a capital management firm that grew from about $20 million in 1995 to over $2 billion now,” the report said.
I’m a shareholder in Barnes & Noble where you can buy Scott McClellan’s book. Soros is as much responsible for its publication as I am in it’s distribution.
“Soros Linked to Hate-Bush McClellan Book”

You nailed it Sean, this is nuts. My guess is that McClellan made a deal to take a greater share of royalties in exchange for his (relatively) small advance, knowing that sales would be strong given the incendiary nature of his message, as well as his expertise in crafting a strong PR campaign. Striking this type of deal is easier with a smaller, more flexible publisher like Perseus. This isn’t about politics, it’s about the bottom line. McClellan doesn’t get paid parroting the party line, BUT if he triangulates? Jackpot.
