Take Over of House Chamber; “Boston Tweet Party”
House Democrats adjourned without voting on expanding energy production. So the House Republicans decided to take over the chamber with or without lights, microphones, or Democrats. The cameras are off so your best chance to follow what’s going on is through Twitter.
“House Dems Turn Out the Lights But GOP Keeps Talking”
UPDATE: What’s just as interesting as the actions by House Republicans is how they’re using new media to get their message out. Twitter is twittering, and Rep. Culberson posted a Qik video from his cell phone.
UPDATE II: A friend on Twitter dubbed the tweets from the House the “Boston Tweet Party.”
UPDATE III: National Review Online’s Mark Hemingway filed this report:
It’s summer, so there are no shortage of tourists trying to get in to witness what promises to be a heck of a civics lesson. They’re lined up out the door, and being that the House is out of session, the G.O.P. has even opened up the floor seats to visitors. Every five minutes or so the throngs of citizens would erupt into loud applause and cheering at something that was being said. One source on the Hill I spoke with was calling this “The Guerilla Congress.”
UPDATE IV: Here’s video from the house floor:
