Don’t Underestimate the Paul People

Someone forgot to tell Rep. Ron Paul’s supporters the race for the Republican nomination is over, and their guy lost.
This weekend I talked to one of Paul’s Virginia activists. They’re looking past this election and trying to emulate the Goldwater/Reagan path taken by conservatives in the 60s and 70s. Of course that would mean […]

Chelsea Clinton: Normal

From Robert Stacy McCain’s reporting from West Virginia it appears Chelsea Clinton is more normal than her parents. The immorality and constant cynical political calculations of her parents didn’t rub off on her.
“Chelsea Charmed”

Clinton Wrong on Gas Tax Too

I must disagree with Robert McCain Stacy who writes, “At least for once in her life, Hillary’s on the right side of a tax issue.” Clinton isn’t right on pushing a summer gas tax holiday. Like I wrote previously I love tax cuts most of the time. But I’m not a gas tax holiday fan. […]

Ron Paul’s Book Bomb

Because I’m interested in how campaigns use the internet a long time ago I signed up for Rep. Ron Paul’s money bomb e-mail list. Since the Texas Congressman won’t be the Republican Presidential nominee this cycle the list had to find a new use. Last week, I was urged to pre-order Paul’s new book The […]

Obama Barely Wins Guam Caucuses

CNN and the AP both report Sen. Barack Obama won the Guam Caucuses by only seven votes.
It was a caucus where Obama has dominated. Just under 5,000 people took part so you really can’t project anything from Guam, but it may be an indication of Obama’s continuing weakness.
UPDATE: It looks like Sen. Clinton’s pandering about […]

DNC Follows Obama in Smearing McCain

The RNC has had enough of Democrats completely distorting Sen. John McCain’s mention of U.S. troops possibly being in Iraq for 100 years. Sen. Obama has made the distortion part of his stump speech even after independent observers like the Columbia Journalism Review said he was “outright lying.” (”New politics,” same as the old.”)
What pushed […]

Obama Shoots Down Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s call for a Lincoln-Douglas-style debate (which really isn’t) received the same reaction as when Fred Thompson proposed it to front-running Republicans last year (back when Mike Huckabee didn’t matter).
Let me disagree with Alan Stewart Carl. If I were Obama I’d avoid this type of debate. Obama’s comparative advantage is his soaring speeches. […]

Fred Thompson on Hannity and Colmes Tonight

After leaving Law & Order Fred Thompson’s tv home away from home was Hannity & Colmes. Set your DVRs because tonight he returns to talk about what happened to his Presidential run and the current state of the race.
What do you want Fred to say tonight?

Obama-Clinton Battle Builds Ground Game

Last month, I wrote about how a protracted Obama-Clinton fight wasn’t that bad for the Democrats’ chances in November. I reasoned that Obama and Clinton would suck all the news coverage keeping McCain out of the news. I was wrong about that. McCain’s done well to score points (mostly on likely nominee Obama) to not […]

Obama, Clinton, and McCain on WWE

All three videos are pretty painful to watch.
Sen. Barack Obama:

Notice he didn’t mention pulling out of Iraq. Do WWE fans skew pro-war?
Sen. Hilary Clinton:

I don’t get “Hill-rod.” She did mention Iraq.
Sen. John McCain:

This one’s the most painful to watch as McCain hams it up. He probably remembers watching The Crusher a few decades ago. And […]

Bobby Jindal to be on Tonight Show

Then entertainment end of NBC is hyping the political angle of Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R-LA) appearance on The Tonight Show next week:
Amidst the growing buzz about possibly being the Vice Presidential candidate on the Republican ticket, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal makes his first appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (Monday - Friday, 11:35 […]

Obama and Clinton Settle It in the Ring

What hath God wrought?

I was waiting for Mark Penn could toss Hillary a foreign object. Didn’t happen.

ABC News Hated by Left Blogosphere

After last night’s debate there is no love for ABC News from the left side of the blogosphere. Not when Charlie Gibson used a supply-side argument about the capital gains tax and George Stephanopolous asked Sen. Obama about his relationship with former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers. Stephanopolous got that question from Sean Hannity which […]

Huckabee’s Big Announcement

Beware the Ides of April. Mike Huckabee plans on launching something on 04.15 (probably a PAC) and there’s a petition pushing for Mitt Romney as Sen. McCain’s running mate. It’s as much about 2008 as 2012. It’s called “preparing the battlespace.”

Weyrich Backs Away from “No Mitt” Ads

Paul Weyrich stepped away from the “NO MITT FOR VP” ads. The Free Congress Foundation sent me this press release:
Tuesday, April 08, 2008
(For Immediate Release)
Re: Paul M. Weyrich Statement on the “NoMitt” Campaign.
Recently I received a phone call from someone asking if former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney should be Arizona Senator John McCain’s selection for […]
