Green to Be Appointed Ambassador to Tanzania

Even if you lose you can win. Ask Mark Green:
Former U.S. Rep. Mark Green was to be named ambassador to Tanzania today, seven months after being defeated as the Republican Party’s candidate for governor.
Green, 47, has ties to Africa. He is the son of a South African immigrant, and he and his wife, Sue, spent [...]

DA Won’t Press Charges on Election Board Meeting

Once upon a time way back last summer the State Elections Board voted to bar Mark Green from moving $467,844 from his federal campaign fund to his governors race fund. We later learned Gov. Jim Doyle’s lawyer Mike Maistelman engineered the set up. The meeting took place in Brookfield where Republican Paul Bucher was still [...]

Doyle’s Thorough Win

Looking at CNN’s exit poll Gov. Doyle’s win was across the board. He won the white vote, every age group, voters with incomes above and below $100,000, every education level, the Catholic vote, the urban vote, the rural vote, even people who don’t think the economy is so hot.
A glaring result is Doyle won on [...]

Large Turnout in Conservative Counties

Polling places in conservative Waukesha County are running out of ballots. Also, conservative Ozaukee County expects 75% turnout. That’s more good news for Mark Green to counter the monster numbers Gov. Doyle will get from Dane County.

Mark Green’s Final Pitch

Last night, I asked Mark Green what he’d say to those few still-undecided voters:
“If folks are satisfied with the direction the state’s moving in: rising tax burden, rising tuition, jobs leaving the state, then I’m not your guy. If you want to see a dramatic change…then I am your guy”
And on ethics:
“The office of governor [...]

Turnout Good for Green in Waukesha, Brown Counties

WisPolitics.com reports Brown and Waukesha Counties are getting good turnout:
Early afternoon returns showed Waukesha Co. turnout poised to top 64 percent and possibly break records for a gubernatorial election year, according to County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus.

When contacted by WisPolitics at 2:30 p.m., Brown County Clerk Darlene Marcelle said orders of 25,000 additional ballots had already [...]

‘Twas the Night Before Election Day…

The final stop on Rep. Mark Green’s Victory Tour was at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay. I’m sure that setting wasn’t a coincidence. Going into Election Day the campaign wanted to build momentum like a locomotive. On the campaign trail he was feeling it. Yesterday afternoon and evening Mark Green grew bolder in [...]

Mark Green in Manitowoc

There was 75-100 people at the Perkins in Manitowoc. Mark and his campaign staff were very happy with the turnout. I heard a radio report that state-wide turnout was expected to be about 50%. Green campaign manager Mark Graul told me that was in line with his expectation.

With the Mark Green Campaign in NE Wisconsin

“It’s almost over.” That’s what Rep. Mark Green told diners at Mike’s Place in Oshkosh. On local radio the announcer gladly told listeners there’s “only one more day” until we’re free of campaign ads. Couldy skies and a Green Bay Packers loss make for surly natives. At least the temperature doesn’t mean winter has [...]

Again on the Campaign Trail

To use Mark Green’s words, “It’s almost over.” This morning I’m joining the Green campaign in Oshkosh. I plan on skipping a stop or two to post.

Van Hollen and Green Stumping Together in Central Wisconsin

In Wausau, Marshfield, and Stevens Point you not only spotted Mark Green’s “Green Machine” RV but also the RV of attorney general candidate JB Van Hollen. Van Hollen told voters they must “take back the east wing of the capital.” He didn’t want to have Mark Green elected but saddled with a liberal Democrat as [...]

Governors Stumping for Mark Green

A former, a soon-to-be former, and a current governor came out Saturday to stump for Mark Green letting Wisconsin voters know he should be leading Wisconsin for the next four years. In Wausau, Massachusetts’ Mitt Romney and Mississippi’s Haley Barbour asked a enthusiastic Republican crowd to work hard and vote for Green. Barbour mentioned the [...]

From Hudson to Chippewa Falls with Mark Green

Hudson, Wisconsin was cold and crisp. The calendar says November so I could understand the chill. Inside Hudson Bagel & Coffee Republicans lined up for breakfast while waiting for Rep. Mark Green to arrive. The Congressman’s campaign staff scurried around, many in similar dark blue blazers, a few with ear buds in their ears.
Green arrived [...]

On the Road with Mark Green

I’ve been in Northwest Wisconsin following Mark Green on the campaign trail. We started in Hudson, went to Menominie, then Eau Claire, and finally to Chippewa Falls. Right now, Green is in Milwaukee with Sean Hannity. I’ll have some post up later tonight.
What impressed me was how genuine Green was. He spoke passionately and was [...]

Scientists Say Green Election Won’t Stop Stem Cell Work

Gov. Jim Doyle has made stem cell research a cornerstone of his re-election campaign. He purposely only mentions “stem cell research” instead of differentiating between the different kinds of stem cells. At least Michael J. Fox got that part right. What Fox is wrong about is when he says Rep. Mark Green winning “will set [...]
