Human Events‘ John Gizzi adds another name to the mix of possible running mates for Sen. John McCain: Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan.
On the plus side Rep. Phil English said, “Paul is Catholic, from the Rustbelt, and has the economic credentials Sen. McCain needs.” His youth also contrasts nicely with McCain’s age.
On the downside his age […]

John Gard to Challenge Kagen

John Gard announced he’ll again face Rep. Steve Kagen for Congress. Gard will be running on continuing President Bush’s tax cuts and earmark reform. Gard even took from Sen. McCain and offered some “straight talk.”
It’s a good opportunity for Republicans to take a Democratic seat. They will be few and far between this cycle so […]

Plenty of Blame

It’s the one time of the year when Eugene Kane makes sense. When black eighth graders in Wisconsin schools were found to be the worst writers in the country he tells us more than the students are culpable:
These depressing results were taken from a national study often referred to as “The Nation’s Report Card,” which […]

Congratulations Waukesha West Academic Decathlon Team

Congratulations go to Waukesha West’ Academic Decathlon team. They won their seventh straight Wisconsin state title yesterday. I represented Slinger High School in 1993 so I know how much work and dedication it took to compete for a state title. I wish them the best of luck competing in the national finals next month in […]

Ned Yost No Fan of Weblogs

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost has a unique way of dealing with weblogs:
I’ve decided that from now on when NASCAR is on the docket, I’m going to pull a “Yost,’’ or react the same way he does when the subject of blogs are brought up.
See, the manager is not a big fan of blogs, which […]

Huckabee Wins 6 Delegates from Wisconsin

It wasn’t the clean sweep I thought it would be last night for Sen. John McCain. Mike Huckabee won more votes in two Congressional districts giving him six delegates.
In the Third District Huckabee got 46.10% to McCain’s 44.37%. In the Seventh which went back and forth all night Huckabee squeaked out a 71-vote win.
Looking at […]

McCain Wins Wisconsin

Fox News gives Sen. John McCain a Wisconsin win. Their exit polls had McCain beating Mike Huckabee on every issue. Even talk radio listeners backed McCain.
UPDATE: About Obama’s vacuous rhetoric McCain responds in his victory speech, “Americans are not deceived by an eloquent but empty call for change.” He not only takes on Obama’s inexperience, […]

Wisconsin Exit Polls

Jim Geraghty reports:
I’m hearing that after two waves of data, Wisconsin looks like a blowout in favor of Obama, in the neighborhood of 60 percent to 40 percent.
AJStrata might have spoke too soon about Obama peaking too early.
If the exit polls were centered around Madison and Milwaukee areas with high student concentrations that could skew […]
